Hello Second Grade Families!
With our zoo field trip on Friday, we got a little bit off schedule with our blog writing. But we are back in action!
Last week in math, we learned more about measurement. We measured with non standard units like paper clips and footsteps. We also practiced measuring with inches, feet, and yards. We also started measuring the temperature in Farneheit.
In writing we are finishing up our poetry unit. We worked on Haikus and rhyming poems.
Christina finished writing Chapter 2 of a choice piece. Several students are working on choice writing pieces during Daily 5. Our class has lots of really talented writers! I have really enjoyed hearing their fiction choice pieces.
In reading we are continuing our work on retelling with summarizing and the beginning/middle/end of a story.
This week students have been asked to bring in a rock. We will use these as "pet rocks" while we finish up our Earth's Surface Science unit.
